Took Him Out to the Ballgame

On Wednesday we were adventurous and went to Joliet, home of the Jackhammers, to cheer on our Gary Southshore Railcats.  Papou Sam joined us for Basil’s first baseball experience.  Basil enjoyed drinking milk and spitting up at the stadium while the rest of us enjoyed the baseball game and “bases loaded bratwursts.”

The Railcats were victorious with a final score of 11 to 5.  We only stayed through the 7th inning when things looked more thoroughly in the Railcat’s favor than the final score shows.  On evenings when not at the ballpark we’ve been tuning in to Railcats action on 98.1fm the Lakeshore, an NPR station with nightly sports broadcasting and McDonald’s advertising.  Unfortunately our Cats suffered a major defeat in KC this evening, going down 9-1.  We console ourselves with memories of Papou Sam’s visit.

And we’re looking forward to Basil’s introduction to Yia-yia Brooke and Papou Chris.

Today, Basil had a checkup at the doctor.  He has put on 2lbs and 7oz from his birthweight and moved up to the 50th percentile on the growth chart.  Way to be average!

Basil is far above average in his ability to imitate his father.

Papa does it:                                  Basil does it:
